Our client is widely celebrated for introducing artisan West Coast coffee culture to the UK while championing rigorous ethical sourcing and small-batch roasting. They are now looking to recruit a Production Manager who will hold full responsibility for ensuring that production output, service levels, quality, safety, cost, and compliance targets are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities will include:
• Production Delivery – Be accountable for production output and service performance, taking ownership of any shortfall and ensuring corrective action is implemented.
• Labour Efficiency & Resource Management – Be accountable for labour efficiency across all production activities, ensuring labour is effectively utilised and productivity targets are achieved.
• Waste Reduction & Operational Control – Be accountable for minimising waste across production, including raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
• Production Planning & Scheduling – Work in conjunction with the Operations Director and Supply Chain Manager to forward-plan production schedules based on stock levels and planned maintenance.
• Supply Chain & Inventory Alignment – Be accountable for ensuring production plans are fully aligned with raw material and packaging availability.
• Operational Performance & Continuous Improvement – Own production performance data and take responsibility for analysing trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Quality Control & Product Integrity – Be accountable for ensuring all coffee products consistently meet defined quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Food Safety & BRC Compliance (Audit Performance) – Be fully accountable for achieving and maintaining required audit standards across BRC, Health & Safety, and environmental compliance.
• Health, Safety & Environmental Management (H&S Performance) – Be accountable for health and safety performance across all production areas, including reduction of incidents, near misses, and lost-time injuries.
• Machinery & Maintenance – Be accountable for the performance, reliability, and maintenance of all production equipment.
• People Management & Team Performance – Be accountable for the performance and output of the production team.
• Cross-Functional Delivery – Be accountable for ensuring production delivers against wider business requirements, including supply chain, customer service, and commercial priorities.
Qualifications and experience:
• Proven experience in a supervisory role within a food manufacturing environment would be desirable.
• Strong understanding of production processes, quality control, and inventory management.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and industry standards, including ISO14001 and BRC requirements.
• Proficient in using production management software (e.g., NetSuite).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
