An award-winning independent brewery based in the South West of England, is looking to recruit an exceptional Head Brewer to take ownership of every aspect of brewing operations and help shape the next chapter of the brewery’s development. They are looking for someone to share their commitment to quality, someone who enjoys working with a high degree of autonomy and wants to build a long-term future with the business.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the Directors, you will have full responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the brewery.
This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys being closely involved in every aspect of brewing and takes genuine pride in producing consistently outstanding beer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all brewery production, overseeing brewing, fermentation, conditioning and packaging to consistently produce high-quality beer while managing production schedules, raw materials, stock control, brewing records, traceability and production efficiency.
• Take full responsibility for quality assurance and regulatory compliance, maintaining high standards of hygiene and ensuring adherence to SALSA, HACCP, COSHH and all relevant food safety and health & safety requirements.
• Manage the day-to-day operation of the brewery, including equipment maintenance, contractor coordination, continuous improvement initiatives and supporting investment in new equipment and future expansion.
• Maintain and enhance the consistency of the core beer range while evaluating new ingredients, processes and brewing techniques that deliver measurable improvements.
• Support the brewery’s commercial growth by working closely with the Directors, developing relationships with suppliers and customers, representing the brewery at industry events, and providing strategic leadership to maximise the brewery pub’s beer offering, customer experience and commercial performance.

Experience and Qualifications:

You’ll be an experienced commercial brewer who enjoys working independently and taking responsibility.

Essential:
• Commercial brewing experience with a proven ability to take ownership of brewery operations.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance and food safety systems.
• Experience working with SALSA, HACCP and COSHH.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:
• IBD qualification or Brewing degree.
• Experience producing both cask and keg beer.
• Mechanical aptitude and confidence maintaining brewery equipment.
• Sensory analysis experience.
